Guidance for parents

Parents have an important role in supporting their child’s learning. This includes helping their children use digital technologies safely and responsibly.

We propose the following tips to help you in this important role:
  • Show an interest in what your child is doing with the iPad .
  • Recognise that the ipad is provided primarily or your child’s learning
  • Supervise the use of the ipad - children should use them in family areas rather than in their own bedrooms
  • Encourage balance between using the ipad and other homework tasks and everyday family activities.
  • As the parent, remember it is OK to ask your child to switch the device off when you think it is appropriate.
We ask for your help with the following:
  • Set up an Apple ID for your child (Your school will assist you.)
  • Assist your child with downloads and updates as requested by the class teacher
  • Ensure they bring the ipad to school, fully charged, every day.
  • Protecting the ipad fully, and storing it in a safe place at home
  • Report any loss, damage or technical issues to the school immediately.
  • Return the iPad to the school if your child is leaving the school.
